The Amazing Thieves Essential Oil Blend, the Plague & Household Cleaning

I swear by the Thieves Household Cleaner. I have totally replaced every single kind of detergent, cleaner (even other brands that were natural), with the Thieves Household Cleaner. It is literally the ONLY cleaner in my house. I use it in place of laundry detergent (no need to add bleach, fabric softeners or toxic dryer sheets!), I use it in my dishwasher, to hand wash dishes, clean my new Prius car, removed automoble grease spots from my carpet, removed food grease stains from clothing (yup, EVEN stains that were several years old, gone! Now we can wear those comfy broken-in clothes out in public again!), I use it to clean every surface in my bathroom and kitchen and more!

Young Living hit the jackpot when they made and introduced this product. I have NEVER seen anything else work nearly as well and quickly in my life!

Now, I'll bet you're wondering, "what's up with the name Thieves!?" Here's the story...

THE HISTORY OF THIEVES ESSENTIAL OIL BLEND

During the Black Plague of 16th century, a small band of thieves were caught in the act and brought before the King, who forced them to divulge a most curious secret. The thieves had been entering the homes of plague victims and stripping the dead bodies of money, jewelry and anything else of value that could be found. Although the plague was highly contagious, not one of this morbid band of thieves ever contracted the dread plague even though their thefts had put them in daily contact with the dead bodies of plague victims. The King, eager to protect himself and the Royal Family, demanded to know how the thieves had avoided contracting the plague.

Soon enough, the truth came out. The thieves were all members of the same family - a family from a long line of Apothecaries. Because of their intimate knowledge of the healing arts, passed down from generation to generation, they were familiar with a combination of specific plant oils that, when rubbed on the body, would protect the body from contracting this most feared and deadly disease. The King forced the thieves to divulge the specific plant oils (essential oils) used, and the formula for extracting (distillation) them from the plants. With that vital information in hand, he was thereby able to protect himself and his family from the deadly plague.

The recipe for the "thieves oils" can still be found in the Royal English Archives to this day. What's more, this story is not all that unusual. In fact, it is widely known that many perfumers and tanners in 16th century England were also able to escape the Black Plague due to the fact that the powerful, sweet smelling plant oils (essential oils) used in the making of various perfumes and in the scenting of leather goods exhibit phenomenal antimicrobial properties.

History further reveals that virtually the entire town of Bucklersbury, England was spared from the plague, even while the residents of other towns in close proximity were dying in droves. How were the residents of Bucklersbury spared? Historians believe it was no fluke. This fortunate town was the center of the European lavender trade. Lavender is a plant the essential oil of which is widely used in making real perfume. More importantly, the oil of lavender has long been known to have powerful disease fighting properties as well.

What Young Living did was find the secret recipe and made the Thieves essential oil blend. They took the Thieves blend and mixed it with a nontoxic wetting agent. So what we have now is a cleaner that's not going to slowly poison us and our families and weaken our immune systems to the point of disease, illness and allergies while we're trying to keep our households clean and free of germs!

Hmmmm, if this blend of essential oils could protect people from the plague I can only imagine the possibilities of it protecting us in the future of dreaded illnesses. I personally believe that this product is very worthy of grabbing our attention and applying our knowledge.

It's information like this that makes me wonder, why in the world do people still buy inferior products from large companies who don't give a hoot about contaminating us and our wonderful environment. I believe that the Thieves Household Cleaner should be a staple in every home. Not only that, but you will have so much space in your cabinets when you get rid of all that other garbage!

ALL YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THIEVES HOUSEHOLD CLEANER

1) Barbara's review of Thieves Household Cleaner

Young Living's new product, Thieves Household Cleaner, is quite amazing. Not only is it non-toxic, but it contains the powerful germ-fighting properties of Thieves oil, transforming cleaning into a healing activity!

I've received spectacular results on the grout in my kitchen tiles, stains on clothing, walls and surfaces and even in the oven. It seems to penetrate and dissolve grease and other dirt instantly. As you can see from the testimonials below, the uses are limited only by your imagination!

This product is very concentrated. Below you will find a "proportions chart" which you can cut out and tape onto the back of the Thieves Cleaner bottle. This chart gives you an idea, not only about the proportions to use of the cleaner to water, but also how economical it actually is. For example, for "medium" degreasing, the cost of Thieves Cleaner is only .64 / quart (32 oz.). For "heavy" degreasing the cost is only $1.27 / quart. As a comparison, I did an internet search. For 22 oz. bottles: Formula 409 costs $3.29, Lysol Disinfectant (yuk) costs $2.89. The natural, non-toxic brands are generally considerably more costly. And maybe you've noticed, like I have, that the natural cleaning products don't seem to have much of a punch.

As many of you know, the Young Living Thieves essential oil blend was tested at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah for its potent antimicrobial properties. Thieves was found to have a 99.96 percent kill rate against airborne bacteria. The oils in the blend are highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-infectious. With winter and winter maladies quickly approaching, what better way to keep your house in order and smelling great, while keeping yourself healthy at the same time?! Fragrant regards, Barbara

I just used the new Thieves Cleaner in my steam cleaner...about a teaspoon in the soap dispenser...then filled it with water, and my house LOOKS and SMELLS GREAT! It worked GREAT on my carpet, better, in fact than the chemical soap that came with the steam cleaner, and now I have the added benefit of THIEVES in my carpet! *giggle!* I just had to share! Jessica Wild

I am just as thrilled as Jessica about the Thieves Cleaner.I was given a sample and it worked on floors, carpet, stove, shower, etc. I cleaned all day and it tackled everything with amazing results. And then that night my hands were so soft which was amazing. I didn't wear gloves and usually the orange "???" product I used in the past would make my hands all tight and red, not Thieves. This is the best. Bonnie Rogers

I am sooo excited!!! I tried my new bottle of Thieves household cleaner.....oh my!!! Besides smelling so good, it cleaned my floor cleaner than it has been since I used a brillo pad on it! I could hardly believe my eyes when I sprayed the floor and wiped up the grime that hides back in the corner...it came up like it was dust! We live on a farm and always tracking dirt in onto the old linoleum, and even after rinsing the floor a couple of times dirt was still coming up out of the pits in the pattern.....my other soap never dissolved dirt so fast!!!! Then Tom left auto grease on my dish soap bottle again, I just sprayed it with the Thieves and it ran down the side....it instantly dissolved!!!

I expect to sell this one to everyone...what a blessing to people who are chemically sensitive!!! I can't wait to try it on the outside of my windows~ I will be experimenting on the bugs and tar on the car, and the grease on the tractor! I don't need any other cleaner! Sally

We've been waiting for a product like this from Young Living! Our first experience using this new household cleaner was to see if it would cut through grease on kitchen mini blinds. We were impressed! We've now used it in the dishwasher, on walls, countertops, toilet bowls, mirrors, windows, shower doors, and more! When our son came home last night he said, "Mom, you're still cleaning?" Cleaning has never been so fun and just think of the health benefits of inhaling Thieves while working. It just doesn't get any better! Linda & Merrill Dastrup

We are getting very positive results to the new 'household cleaner' YL just introduced. We are using this new product in our washing machine, doing our dishes in the sink. Can't wait to try it in our dishwasher at home. We are also using this new product in our holding tanks in the motor home to help clean them and hold down the odor. Sounds like what we are learning--it could very well be an all purpose cleaner. Try this product....you will like it. This product works! Rich and Shauna Dastrup

We have found that Thieves Household Cleaner makes a wonderful eye glass cleaner. Just one capful to two cups of water in a spray bottle and then a couple of sprits to each lens does the trick. Just wanted to share... Oiling along, Carol

It feels so good to be able to clean without the toxic fumes and ingredients from other household cleaning products, and it feels especially good when my daughter-in-law and I have used it to clean the rails of Adam's crib, and his high-chair tray, and the floors etc. Bravo, Gary, for this addition to the line!! The 4 Qualities of Essential Oils

Something that was not clear to me at first is that there is a BIG difference between the types of Essential Oils. For all I knew, oils were oils, and even though I knew about lavender scented products in my grocery store – I had no idea about the possibilities of supporting my health, naturally, with Essential Oils. Let me explain, all Young Living Essentials Oils are pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. That means that care has been given to every single drop, to ensure that the medicinal properties have been retained.

I have been using essential oils for nearly 25 years. I had purchased a book on essential oils back then and immediately absorbed it like a sponge. I had been into herbal remedies for many years and already knew that plants had so very much to offer us. I searched around for a company that sold essential oils, that was pre-internet days and a rather time consuming process because essential oils, unfortunately, were not mainstream in the US. Most people had never even heard of them.
I knew that the quality was very important and that one could tell by smell and price if an oil was of higher or lower quality. See my previous post on Smell Testing an Essential Oil. I finally found a company that had better quality essential oils, but they used solvents in distillation. I went ahead and bought some anyway. Thinking that even though I couldn't use them on my body, I could still use them to clean my house (I had had it with chemical cleaners sold in stores because of their toxins and was determined to remove them from my household).

For years, I mixed up my own essential oil blends from those oils and cleaned my house. They cleaned so well and smelled so fantastic. Everyone who walked in my house commented on how terrific my house smelled. There were times I even made up spray bottles of my essential oil house cleaner mixture and gave them as Christmas gifts to friends and family. I wanted everyone to know that they didn't have to continue to be slaves to those highly toxic cleaners. Everyone loved the gift and used it to clean their homes. I had hoped that they would come back to me and ask how they could buy the essential oils. No one did. Wait, that's not true, one of my sisters was interested and I think she called the company and bought a couple essential oils. Everyone else, even though they absolutely loved the smell and how good it cleaned, I don't think they 'got it'. I don't think they got it because they're so conditioned to buy toxic stuff from the store. And, making their own household cleaners was just not something they wanted to spend time doing and researching like I had done.

Then, I was at the right place, at the right time, and was introduced to Young Living's essential oils. No solvents, no chemicals, from organically grown plants, no adulterations, the plants were harvested properly and brought to the distiller promptly (rather than sitting in some trailer in the blazing sun for days deteriorating the beneficial qualities of the herb), they were distilled using long and low heat...Hey! Just what I was looking for!!!

Then, I smelled my first Young Living Essential Oil, WOW! They smelled 'right'. They smelled exactly the way the herb should smell like. I was sold! Now I could use my essential oils on my body, in my cooking, cleaning my house, as part of my herbal preparations and more! I was in heaven!

I sat down with an order form and started writing in one essential oil after the next, their list of essential oils is very long, my first order was over $500, yikes! Fortunately, the woman who introduced Young Living to me said that if I signed up as a distributor, at a cost of $50, I could immediately get the wholesale pricing (which is 24% lower) so I said, "fine!" The savings on that order and any other order I would place after that were well worth the $50 distributor membership fee. At the time, I was studying classical Feng Shui and had a landscaping business. I had no intention of ever doing Young Living as a business.

Last year, I changed my mind. With so many people complaining to me about how nasty store bought products were, and how they don't have time to spend researching and whipping up their own concoctions I decided it was time to get serious and utilize that distributorship and do this as my home based business.
Getting back to the subject...

There are 4 Grades of Essential Oils:

• Grade A oils are pure therapeutic quality and are usually made from organically grown plants distilled at the proper temperatures using steam distillation. This the category that all of Young Living's essential oils and essential oil-enhanced products are in.

• Grade B oils are food grade; they may contain synthetics, pesticides, fertilizers, chemical/synthetic extenders, or carrier oils. With all those unnecessary toxins I find it hard to imagine how these can be approved of as 'food grade'. If I ruled the world, it would be a completely different place!

• Grade C oils are perfume grade and may contain the same type of adulterating chemicals as food grade oils. They also usually contain solvents which are used to gain a higher yield of oil per harvest. Solvents are normally cancerous. This is what's in the store bought perfumes and other scented liquids sold for us to put on our bodies so we smell pretty, it's no wonder people have so many allergies to scented products! Personally, I'd rather smell bad than put that stuff on my body!

• Floral Water is a byproduct of the distillation process, a very high quality if it comes from a Grade A distillation process. Accordingly it is of very low quality if it comes from poor quality raw materials and/or poor distillation processes. It is usually found in skin and hair products. This too is a quality of product that I disapprove of for obvious reasons.

Here is a testimony from another Young Living member...

"I was first introduced to Young Living essential oils 8 years ago. I mention this to honestly admit how long it took someone like me to "get it", and it's not that I was new to health and nutrition.

I learned of the oils during a yoga class, at a time when I was spending good money to supplement my nutrition with herbs. I now know that essential oils greatly enhance the body's absorption of nutrients , and add exponentially more concentrated effectiveness, not to mention the almost intangible "feel good" benefits I am still discovering. I call it Feeling Fitness as I believe the oils most profoundly heal at the level of feelings and attitudes. I have always enjoyed the smell of some oils, but it has taken me years to appreciate the inherent wisdom of how they work, within me and the people I have had opportunity to share them with. Young Living Essential Oils have brought me some very miraculous moments, and I'm certain that they will bring you some too." Tim Owen

I think the other interesting I've noticed with myself, is that when I'm around anyone or anything that's not a 100% organic and 100% natural scent (perfumes, candles, air fresheners, cleaners, and so forth) it not only makes me feel ill, but it makes me choke and gag...and I don't even have allergies or illness, that stuff just smells nasty.

When you don't use toxic products it's like you can smell one coming a mile away. How in the world we ever allowed big companies to condition us into believing that stuff smells good and we should slather it all over our bodies has got to be the most cruel and successful marketing tactic in the history of mankind!

I don't understand why we as a culture, as a community, allow companies to make such appallingly harmful products for us and our families. I'm saying this, meaning that you don't have to buy Young Living products, but at least don't encourage these companies to manipulate us, and support them by continuing to buy these 'known' poisonous products. We deserve a lot better than what they've been giving us!

There are very, very few companies out there who do have high quality products. Because there is no regulation on essential oils any company can claim that their product has essential oils in it and they don't have to say which quality they use. This is where the price tells the whole story, if a product claims to have essential oils in it they can be synthetic, adulterated and so forth to keep the price low. If the price of a product claiming to have essential oils in it is of a comparable price to it's chemical laden relative, you WILL know for sure that the essential oil is either synthetic or of the lowest and poorest quality.

Since the days of our ancient ancestors, all therapeutic-grade essential oils have been extremely expensive. There has never been a day that has past that a therapeutic-grade essential oil was ever sold cheaply, they can't sell it cheaply because to make a high quality essential oil requires proper growing, proper handling, and proper distillation. This is why in man's ancient past essential oils were MORE valuable and more prized than gold.

And the same holds true for even today. Therapeutic-grade Rose essential oil is far more valuable than an equal weight in gold. Fortunately, due to the concentrated nature of therapeutic-grade essential oils a couple drops is all you need. The difference between us and our ancient ancestors, is that even the common person back then knew of the healing benefits and value of these precious golden drops the plant kingdom offered. All of our pharmaceuticals originated from properties of healing plants, then, they discovered how to isolate an active ingredient and/or make a synthetic version, which results in a product that can be patented. You can't patent a plant substance unless you severely manipulate it. It's because of this that we have big pharma companies pushing their drugs on us, and the average person has very little, if any, knowledge about the healing benefits of plants.

Internet Marketing TeleClass Starts 10/2/06 Register for it Soon!

This past summer I had the wonderful opportunity to take part in an Internet Marketing TeleClass through one of my Young Living colleagues, Marilee Tolen. I had signed up for her TeleClass so that I could learn more on how to promote my business online. This blog is one of the results of my taking her course, not bad, huh!?

I learned so much in her TeleClass that I felt that I had gotten my money's worth by the second class! Marilee is a terrific woman and very attentive to detail. She had terrific expert guest speakers every week too. I give her class, 4 Stars!

Here is what Marilee has to say about her class (follow the link I've provided to get more details and to register for this terrific class)...

Oh, and remember to tell her that you hard about this from me, Evelyn Vincent!

One Way To Age Profitably

People don't seem to be retiring anymore. They either need to stay in the work force longer because they need the income, or they still feel so vibrant that they just don't want to stop working.

If they do 'officially' retire, many people look for either a second career or to get involved with something that is fun, mentally stimulating, and creative. If this something can be income producing, all the better.

With the internet age upon us as it is, there is opportunity to explore any area that interests you. There is also opportunity to contribute to cyberspace with your own area of expertise.

I've been teaching classes in alternative and complementary holistic therapies for years. The participants in these courses have come from diverse backgrounds - from physicians to at-home moms. The excitement about this new emerging healing based healthcare is growing more rapidly than ever before.

In my recent classes, probably the past year or two, I have noticed a trend. I have noticed the average age of the participants is increasing, with many nearing retirement age. I'm getting the sense that there are more vibrant and optimistic people in their 60's and 70's today than ever before. It's evident that a paradigm shift is really taking hold and these old "thought forms" of aging are really changing.

I think this is good news. I'll admit that I am an eternal optimist, and sometimes I get so tired of hearing, reading, and even writing about so many aging people with terrible diets, illnesses, and grim futures. Although this describes many individuals, there are many adults and elders with lots of good life to live, and great gifts to give.

I've also noticed that people are looking for more ways to increase and maintain their vibrancy and they are interested in things like:

--Creating or being part of a community of like minded people (whatever their minds are like!)

--Contributing to society and to the world

--Sharing the wisdom of their years

--Sharing their area of expertise

--Staying connected to life in many ways without the hassle of travel

--Making an income while loving and controlling what they do

As you are reading this right now you are looking at the exact vehicle that can help to fulfill those goals. The internet.

It doesn't take a technologically oriented "propeller-head" to use the internet to fulfill certain goals. If you know enough to open and read this newsletter, you know enough (technologically) to help you do these things and more.

I am teaching a course in Internet Marketing. I am fascinated with the possibilities that are available to us and others on the internet. Yes, you do have to sift through the less desirable information to get what you want - but there are ways to do that. There are also ways to package yourself and your information so that the credible and professional person that you are will shine through.

I've had many people say to me "I'm not a sales person, so I wouldn't be interested in marketing". Usually this type of person is in a service profession. I often reply with "Marketing is not what you think it is, it's really not sales. It's what you and I as a nurse healers do for people all the time. It's about identifying a need and helping people to fulfill that need - with resources, products, information, or whatever you can offer".

If you are interested in learning more about this click on this link: Marilee's Internet Marketing TeleClass

Although the written information is geared toward the holistic health professional, this information can apply to any profession or area of interest.

You don't have to travel anywhere to take this course (one of the many things I love about this work!). You only need a telephone. If you can sit in front of your computer during these classes it would be helpful, but not necessary, and be guided along. The TeleClass begins 10/2/06, so register early!

And you will get individualized attention which is why the class size is very limited. If you want more info and to learn how to register, go to: Marilee's Internet Marketing TeleClass
